Hello!
I'm Stevie, an artist and game designer from Ontario, Canada.
I've been a freelance artist for 5+ years, creating colorful and stylized artworks for clients online! I'm constantly seeking to learn new skills and connect with others through my creative work.I thrive in team environments, and I'm a big fan of cooperative games such as Team Fortress 2 and Deep Rock Galactic. It's incredibly satisfying to overcome obstacles as a team, and I always look forward to collaborating with others!


WEASEL NEWS

Weasel News is a game about creating fake news and exploring the unreliability of news media.Players create comedic and fake news stories, parodying the news media's view on video games in real life by blaming them for various events.

My Role

2D ArtistAs the 2D artist on the team, my role was to create illustrations and sprites for the backgrounds of each scene in the game, as well as all the story elements and video game choices that players can choose from.

Game DesignerI was a part of all game design discussions and contributed in improving the game's UX and feedback based on playtesting results.

CORPOBOTS

3D multiplayer Party Game

Corpobots is a multiplayer party game where you build and customize your own battle bot with unique weapons and branding. Fight against other bots in a dynamic arena to become the ultimate Boss!

My Role

• 2D & Concept Artist
• Game designer
• Game marketing
I was responsible for creating concept art for characters, weapons, and arenas, as well as key art and other promotional materials for Corpobots.I actively engaged in design discussions with my team to improve the game, and assisted with design, playtesting, and documentation.I also marketed our game onine via social media and in-person at the Level Up Showcase 2023. I produced the Corpobots game video, website and business cards. The table setups at in-person events and Draw-A-Bot interactive game were also designed by me.

Process

Each bot character in the game is designed with a different set of themes to fit in with a certain fictional company's branding in our game's narrative.From a vintage toaster company to a futuristic surveillance company, I applied the personalities and themes of each company to the robots using shape language and colors."

MUTE

3D Horror Game

MUTE is a single-player, first-person psychological horror game where you try to escape from a dark and surreal hospital.The main mechanic of the game involves the player using their microphone and voice to illuminate the environment.

My Role

Game Artist & DesignerI was hired as a Game Artist by Mad Kiwi Interactive, a Sheridan capstone team.As a full member of the team, I worked closely with the designers and programmers in the production of the game.

Process

The main mechanic of the game is based on sound. I produced concepts to help my teammates visualize the sound waves from the player's microphone, illuminating the dark like a flashlight.

References

I took reference from media that contained contrasting monotoned lights, such as film noir and the game Stifled.From this I created concept art and illustrations that convey the look and feel of the game to my team members.

Monster Design

I designed an enemy monster that is frightening in appearance and also conveys the narrative of the game.The monster's design is a combination of body horror and animalistic traits while still maintaining a humanoid shape and appearance.

Pizza Demons

Card Game

A card game themed around pizza and demons!

Players summon Pizza Demons that act as ingredients in fufilling pizza orders.

My Role

Artist & Game Designer

Demons on each card are designed and illustrated by me. They are based off of the ingredients of pizza and the powerups that were present in the game.I also played a role in balancing and creating the cards during pre-production.

3D Asset Design & Modeling

A fanmade vehicle and container design for the game Slime Rancher by Monomi Park.I took the themes and colour palette of Slime Rancher to design a truck and containers that fit into the theme of the game.

Process

This project was made from scratch and taught me a lot about the process of creating a 3D asset.I created the concept art and designed the model in detail in the orthographics, which then used to help me model the truck and container using Autodesk Maya.The final coloured renders of the project were made in Substance Painter

Concept Development

A concept development project that showcases my skills in designing characters, weapons and vehicles.The concept centers around the two astronauts "Ice Cream" and "Machine Gun".Their design is made to be light-hearted with a sense of adventure.Each character's weapons are designed to suit the character's personality and colour palette.

Process

Throughout development I recieved weekly feedbacks on my project, which I then recorded and reflected on within my devlogs.This project is based off of an old personal project of mine. I enhanced the designs of the characters, weapons and the spaceship through iteration based on feedback from my peers.

Level Design Project

A level design project for a game map set on a steampunk gallery airship.This project helped me learn the structure of level design documents and communicating my ideas to other designers through diagrams and visual concepts.

Great Old Medical

Viscera Cleanup Detail Map

A workshop level for the game Visera Cleanup Detail, designed by me and assembled in Unreal EngineThe main premise for the level is a secret cult ritual gone wrong, releasing a monster inside a hospital, the player must clean up the aftermath of the event and restore the image of the hospital.
